I've finished the 23 Things with my hair and nerves intact and I'm not even under a doctor's care for stress related illnesses.
Some exercises I enjoyed more than others - Blogging is a blast, Flickr is fun, I felt right at home with Library Thing, and my avatar is still with me on Yahoo (I need to get her a new outfit) but, I digress. Some applications I would like to revisit and try to apply like tagging and bookmarking.
I think that what I'm most pleased about is that I've learned lots and I have a clue!
My learning journey will continue as the V Team introduces 2.0 tools and technologies into our library system. How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Web 2.0?

You'll Find Me In Facebook
Well, after my panicky e-mail regarding the link in Thing # 19, it is now active again so I checked out the list of winners and was pleased to see that several of the sites were familiar - at least in name. I went to Facebook and registered so that I could join the Library Technicians in Canada group. I'm listed as a member.
Also, check out the You Tube video that I posted.

Now This I Like
I think that these online word processing sites could be very useful. I like:
- the idea of being able to access my documents from any computer. It wouldn't matter if I had started working on something in the ERC and then was on the circ desk - no more saving duplicate files, or worse, searching for a file because you're not sure where it was saved.
- the templates, although I saved some to my account and haven't found them yet.
- the ability of others to contribute to a document and collaborate
I definitely want to explore the applications of this site further but the remaining "Things" await so I am posting this to my blog and continuing on my learning Web 2.0 journey.

Wiki Wise
Have finished a pretty thorough investigation of wikis and as suggested in the discovery exercise (thing #17), accessed the PLCMC wiki and added to the favourites -my blog and a book.

Thanks lc
Whoo-hoo! I followed your instructions (sort of) and got my Library Thing library posted to my blog. I was really hung up on my failure to do so - now I can move on!

Ready for the Half Time Show
Explored Rollyo and created a search roll called Lost Worlds. It will need to have sites added as we get further into planning the Summer Reading Program. It may prove useful. So, I'm half finished the Things. Will tackle the rest in April. No foolin'.

I Get By With a Little Help from My Friends (&Family)
This post should be about Thing #12 - Rollyo, but I couldn't wait to use the new MP3 player that I have been entrusted with. So, yesterday with much excitement and determined to figure it out for myself, I unwrapped my new toy and carefully reading the little manual, started the installation. Things were going great - thanks Marg for the tip about the "hold" button. I downloaded a book with just one part so it would be quick, and then hit a snag when I tried to transfer the file to the player. So, after many frustating moments, I bowed to a higher power and called Heather. She advised using Overdrive for the transfer and it worked! Now to find my file and listen to my book. Well, I looked everywhere, opened the online manual to search for guidance (thanks again Heather) and couldn't find the file. As it was time to head home, I knew who could help me find it - one of my two children who are still living at home and have MP3 players. I sought help from the first child I encountered - the youngest, Mark. He was really impressed by my MP3 player and despite being distracted checking all the features out, located my book in a file that I swear I had checked several times. He wasn't smug - bless his heart!

Feed Frenzie
I set up my Bloglines account, choose some options and now have a plethora of feeds based on my interests. Some look good, could even be useful, but I think that some weeding is in order. I'm not finding the appeal of this feature. What am I missing?

Time Well Wasted
Well, tonight I linked all the V Team blogs to my blog and then of course I had to see if the links all worked. So, I've had a great time catching up with what everyone has posted, filling out a form, looking at pictures, following links etc. This is fun but I'm falling behind in the 23 things. So, on to Thing #8.
It's All Relevant
It's interesting how something grabs your attention once it becomes more relevant. This happened to me when I took another look at the latest edition of the OLA Access magazine. I thought that I had already read it, but now that I'm on the V team and registered for a course on Knowledge Ontario, the articles took on a whole new interest for me. Not only did I carefully read several articles that I had previously perused or passed over, but I also followed internet links provided. One of the links led to a radio interview with Peter Rogers as the guest speaking on Knowledge Ontario. It was fun to listen to. I also find myself reading more articles in the LFPress that are related to technology. I'm becoming technologically aware!

Flickr photo
Unfortunately, none of the digital photos I have in e-mails could be saved in a file that I could browse to post to my blog so I tried the Blog This option with a picture from Flickr. I searched Dorchester, Ontario and found some pictures of the Mill Pond.

I'm Blogging
Setting up my blog was not hard at all. Harder to find something profound to write. I will say that I was pleased to be invited to join the V Team to provide a branch staff perspective. I think that my participation has come at a good time for me. I've been feeling lately that my knowledge and experience of the web and advances in technology is woefully inadequate - a feeling reinforced by my attendance at the Yahoo session at OLA - so I'm excited by the opportunity to explore and expand my knowledge. Next step is to explore Flickr. Will comment on that in my next post.
