I Get By With a Little Help from My Friends (&Family)
This post should be about Thing #12 - Rollyo, but I couldn't wait to use the new MP3 player that I have been entrusted with. So, yesterday with much excitement and determined to figure it out for myself, I unwrapped my new toy and carefully reading the little manual, started the installation. Things were going great - thanks Marg for the tip about the "hold" button. I downloaded a book with just one part so it would be quick, and then hit a snag when I tried to transfer the file to the player. So, after many frustating moments, I bowed to a higher power and called Heather. She advised using Overdrive for the transfer and it worked! Now to find my file and listen to my book. Well, I looked everywhere, opened the online manual to search for guidance (thanks again Heather) and couldn't find the file. As it was time to head home, I knew who could help me find it - one of my two children who are still living at home and have MP3 players. I sought help from the first child I encountered - the youngest, Mark. He was really impressed by my MP3 player and despite being distracted checking all the features out, located my book in a file that I swear I had checked several times. He wasn't smug - bless his heart!

Perseverence pays off ! Your story was very funny - we've all been there as far as the 'kids and computers' thing goes.
Ken and I have said more than once to each other, "we'll have to ask Charlene" who is sixteen and seems, like everyone her age, to have a natural ability to figure out a new technology in about a quarter of the time is takes our old brains!
I did the exact same thing as you...a few times. Finally we uninstalled Overdrive and started again....and then we couldn't find the file. Fortunately, when I walked away from the desk, one of our students found it and loaded it on our MP3 . As my husband would say..."it must have been a short circuit between the seat and the steering wheel".
